do predators like raccoons and possums just eat the head and crop or neck and leave the rest of the body? I would think the breast/innards would be the most nutritious, filling part.

When's the last time you ordered a bucket of heads and necks at KFC?

just curious...

Because they dont have a freezer... Yes it does seem pointless for them to wipe out half a flock when there is no way they could eat them all in a day. Loosing one bird at a time is hard enough- but to find so many dead is heartbreaking. If not disturbed the carcasses often would be taken away- buried or put somewhere where the predator can return to them as needed.
