I just gave my 2.5mo old cockerel crickets for the first time yesterday and he ran like they were going to eat him!!! The big girls LOVE the chase and tasty reward though. They love mealworms too... I'd say they are the FAVORITE!!! But it did take a while for them to figure out how tasty they were. My girls and even my three week old chicks love quinoa with a little milk. They scarf that up in a matter of seconds :0) and oatmeal is always a favorite, especially on chilly mornings. I agree with everyone else, they will come around. Chickens are scared of anything new but mine know if I am bringing something into the coop, it must be a tasty treat for them. I get mobbed when I enter, even if I am only bringing in new bedding....
. I know that they associate me with yummy treats but I like to think that it's because they love me :0). Welcome and if you have any questions, these people are your best friends. I have learned so much here on BYC.
