I have a been raising chickens for a few years now, and I have had chicks numerous times. This time however, one of my roosters is sitting on the eggs full time! He is one of two roosters and there are four hens and there already is about ten adolescent chicks/chickens in the pen. Why would he sit on the eggs? He only gets up to eat and drink and then sits back down on them.

I've also had a young cockerel go sit in the nesting box for a whole day, all the while clucking and trying to entice his hens to get in with him.
And do you know what? One of those young pullets went in with him and layed an egg.

Sometimes roosters do strange things.

The rooster even clucks like a hen. You may not be able to see his spurs in the photo, but I'll post one of him eating or drinking at some point. He is a Cornish rooster, I don't know his specific breed.

He's a rooster. He crows in the morning, reproduces with females, has spurs, doesn't lay eggs, and does the chicken version of herding the hens. I'll get more photos in the morning.

Here is a picture of a cornish rooster. Note the tail and development of comb and wattles. Yours does look rather like a hen.
