Of course, my daughter is Sally Lou, like Sally Lou Who from How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Not intentional, Sally is a family name and the Louise is after Lake Louise in Canada. She is the only Sally in a 3500+ student school district.
I am a reading nerd so I like the Dr. Seuss thing. Go with Maisy by all means. And better stock up on Beatles albums if you choose Lennon.

There aren't a lot of absurd names where I live. I think some of this is a regional thing. There are some people I know who immigrated here a while back, and have foreign names. I thought it was extremely rude how almost nobody took the time to learn how to spell one girl's name. She got so fed up that she unofficially changed the spelling to the way it was pronounced. Poor girl. If I could memorize the spelling, so could everyone else! It was only two extra letters!
My name is the somewhat uncommon feminine version of a common boys' name. Although it is by no means strange, I do wish people would stop spelling it like the masculine version. It's pronounced differently, spell it differently! Also, it is hard to develop a nickname for it.
My sister has a name that is fairly common, if you look at the spelling, but less common the way you pronounce it. I'm not bothered when people pronounce it the way it usually is...until about the thirty-fourth time they say it. Thankfully, she has a nickname which shows the proper pronunciation.
