That's incredible. They would wind up as food themselves here!We have deer in the area, in the winter they go door to door. I have seen 2 bucks encourage a 3rd to go to the door and ask for snacks. These were not babies, but actual bucks with horns.
Sometimes the bucks are more civil than the does.
Fabulous image. Thanks for that!We keep the doors closed. Last time she paraded all 12 of her spawn in the back door, across the dining room into the kitchen. THEN had the audacity to sqwawk at her when she herded them back out.
My broody is the ONLY one that doesn’t get the business end of a broom to teach them to stay outside.
That's great. Not to try and outdue anyone BUT one of the bedroom windows faces the chicken coop and...wait for it...they take turns setting on the sill and TAPPING on the glass until we get up and treat them....the saying "up with the chickens" is literal at Snowflake Farm.
That's one smart hen!I have one that has learned that the garden = treats. If I go out to the garden to pick tomatoes she waits for me to set them down. By the time I come back out to grab them after washing my hands she has stolen and devoured 3!
Annoying mostly. We named her Persistence because no matter how many times you kick her off the porch she just keeps coming back. We have a baby gate as a deterrent and it worked for a while. Only a select few have figured out its not high enough to keep them outThat's one smart hen!
I would have to walk around with cracked corn in my pocket.Over 10 years ago, we went to Kawaii, they had chickens running all over, one mom was walking her babies by the side of the road, cars rushing, I winced and said "oh-no!" and a girl who lived on the Island said, "They are only chickens." Chickens would run up and beg as you ate outside, but the saddest I saw was a momma hen and her chick, she ran up to us in a park and demanded we feed her and her one baby and the baby said, "Yeah!" I had some peanuts and since they were big for her baby I would bite them in 1/2. The peanuts were welcomed.
