Wild bobwhites?

Hi I live in Texas I recently read about bobwhites, and I want to release some, but does anyone have wild bobs?

You cannot obtain wild stock. Our laws keep us from trapping or molesting wild birds in any way without proper permitting. releasing birds to restore population doesnt work anyway. They dont have the instincts to survive predators and the wild quail will keep them off the best feed/water spots. Search google or byc and youll find lots of links to state fish and game depts explaining why they don release and why restocking doesnt work.

Releasing Bobs to the wild won't correct what is happening to their habitat. The wild quail and all of our song birds are disappearing fast because of human encroachment, climate change and loss of the birds habitat. So by releasing your birds is not going to repopulate your areas. If the wild ones can't survive, surely the pen raised birds aren't going to. Pen raised birds not raised by actual quail and receiving food from you in dishes, bowls and fonts do not know how to survive in the wild. The bonding to humans has become to great. Even the professional Wildlife people that have been working with wild birds for decades trying to repopulate areas with quail and other birds are having no success.

So all this being said, and this goes for all that read this in hopes of doing a release of quail into the wild, don't torture these poor pen raised birds by releasing them into the wild. You are only sending them off to their deaths....starvation, thirst, predator killings, etc...

We can't turn back time on this planet. Humans have change the course of the entire face of the Earth and only time will tell how it plays out in the next few centuries.

Your local predators would love that.

Guineas are crappy mothers. And I am being polite. Most of them can't even raise their own babies.

Again, releasing birds on land that is not suited for wild birds is not going to repopulate your land. You would need to irradicate all predators within a 100 mile radius and plant all kinds of vegetation to keep them alive for miles. Just not feesible.

Thanks for letting me know, but just one last question is there any good quail mother replacements besides crappy momma guinea, and where could I get pure bred bobs? Thanks
