We have a new male duck hanging out with our wild Mallard population. They come into our yard every day to eat from below our bird feeder. We also provide them with a "snarfle" bucket to drink from as well as 6 grain chicken scratch, so they are usually fairly tame. The mamas will hatch out in the neighbor's yard while it is flooded and then bring the babies over too us to learn to swim in the snarfle bucket and eat
New duck is a very dark chocolate color, but not black, with a white chin. It is more skittish than the other mallards, but the ladies follow him around. I can't get a good pic of him, but does anyone have any idea what he could be? I live iin Portland Or, if that helps.
