There was a pair of wild ducks that stayed in the creek by my house. Does anyone know if wild ducks return to the same place every year or not. I am hoping they come back and I can find the nest and get a few wild duck eggs to hatch if they come back this year.

I think Mallards will return every year not sure about other wild ducks. Should know pretty soon. Usually in Feb we start to see the pair of Canada geese that have nested in our river for the last 10 yrs or more. Not ready to nest just hanging around where they usually make their nest.

Fair warning is that it is illegal to take wild fowl eggs from their nest. Check with your local game warden and they can explain the laws to you.

I did not know it was illegal I just thought about it this morning and was throwing the idea out. I do plan on building some nesting boxes to watch them for sure though.
Not even sure if that is legal?...I think it's called tampering?..Find out before you do....
