So, deep breath. We shan't lose our minds with Cute Chick Photos. We will continue our usual work:
Bush and Haystack are here. Will they mate? We suppose they have a few days left in which Bush might disappear.
And the arithmetic of Limpy Chick's incubation? It fits. What we don't know is how many days ago the chicks hatched -- they sure are small. But we'd sure like to know where he hatched, and how much ground he and his chicks have covered, and what they visited on the way.
Take a step back readers: we saw Random Dad with a clutch of very young chicks. We have Limpy Chick and his cheepers. There were a few female vocalisations in the district a week or so ago. And Bush and Haystack are still in the game.
And Undersized Emu and her consort? No sighting of late.
But this is data. We are learning more about when emus mate, and the density of the pairs in any given territory.
