Wild Emus at The Lilly Pilly Tree

Great observation this morning: warm, good light.

The chicks are now eating from my hand -- a couple of them, a couple of times.

Then we had a fine close-up view of them eating dirt and tiny rocks. Right after their wheat.

Where is Toosh Toosh?

Until Limpy Chick turned up earlier this year, our hopes were pinned on Toosh Toosh.

Toosh Toosh was here 23 months ago with a clutch of ten. He was the only recognisable tame-wild emu of the Planet Rothschildi project.

He didn't turn up last spring.

We shall watch eagerly in the next six to eight weeks.

Supreme Emu is going to take a break. If a post is made here, I get an email, so I will come and have a look.

It's no one's fault, readers; but BYC has been in decline for years.

And: we've lost a chick -- only nine chicks turned up this morning.

And: I will upload some photos I already have.

We’ll see how big a discussion this becomes – we’ve not mentioned the losses that Toosh Toosh’s clutch suffered two years ago.

But today? We started one month ago with a clutch of ten chicks. ‘Dad Plus’ is under observation only an hour or less a day. They are clearly travelling a fair distance each day, as sometimes they miss a feed, and are away for 24 hours.

There are foxes, but not common in recent years. There are eagles.

And that’s about all we can say. Readers begin to understand ‘the parameters’ here: we watch; we report.
