Cerulean's head tipped earthward, and the mare woke with a start. Lifting her head, she glanced about nervously then relaxed. There were no strawberry roans to be seen. Though weary, she climbed to her hooves, urging her foals to do the same with harried nudges. Adequate nutrition would be essential to their recovery.
