Hi all, I have 4 female runner ducklings that are 2 weeks old and currently kept indoors. Once they are old enough they will be outside and have access to our "pond" - an inground pool that hasn't been used in years and is now home to tadpoles and other wildlife. Lately there have been 2 male and 1 female wild mallard that alternately visit our pond. Will they be a problem for our ducks? Will the wild males try to mate with and/or attack our ducks? What should we do? Thanks so much for any advice!

I don't think they would attack. The might try to mate with them. I believe runners are bigger than mallards. Mallards are bantam ducks, very small ducks in the same class as calls. But just to be on the safe side, I would not let them on the pond until they were a few months old. They might be hard to get back in.

Thanks for replying. I sure hope they don't cause any problems for us!
