Wild Mallards Fly Over

I haven’t heard any on the property yet this year, but Daphne went nuts when she heard them last spring. I’m pretty sure that she daydreams about having a passionate affair with a mallard drake. I’m pretty sure that the drakes would find her voluptuous Rouen body appealing as well!

Long time no see! Any current picture of Daphne? How is she doing healthwise?

She’s doing great, thank you! No eggs since October, and I’m hoping that she continues to let her body rest and does not feel pressure to lay now that at least one of the little ones is laying up a storm. Unless she healed entirely over the winter, I’m afraid that she could relapse quickly. At any rate, she is feeling fantastic and as sassy as ever right now. Hopefully, this will continue! Here’s a not great picture from last week of all 3 enjoying patch of brand new mud.

She’s doing great, thank you! She is a beauty! I lover her laced feathers on her back and the blue stripes.
Yes, have her stay away from the egg laying business for a bit longer, play it safe Daphne!
My Runners have tricked me: They have a nest in one corner of the duck-house and all i could see were the three greenish wooden eggs. What i did not saw were the twelve (!) fresh duck-eggs they had hidden in the wall of the nest. Fresh boiled eggs for breakfast! Yummy!

The mallards are repeating their fly-overs daily now! Shortly after sunset they fly a circle over my house, quack greetings down, then sail down into the valley.
My ducks are super impressed, this evening one of the Runners fell over backwards while watching…

was just stacking firewood near my duck run when my pekin duck started sounding off, about a dozen wild mallards over head, The prettiest female landed for 2 seconds and took off

Its been 25 minuts and my pekin is still sounding off haha

They probably thought they were being invaded. Ducks are territorial.
