So today I was outside and I saw a wild mallard drake and then some other duck was behind him. It was dark brownish and looked just like a Muscovy to me. Is there wild muscovy? Or is it possible it escaped and just became wild?

There are wild Muscovy and they are more of a nuisance bird from my understanding. I believe they are more predominate in the southern states.

The only true wild Muscovies live in a small part of Texas and parts south of there. But, there are loads of feral muscovies all over the country. I could see them being in New York. Chances are, yours was dumped by someone or flew in from another area.
