Hello,

I have a set of two female turkeys each with babies. They are not so much small but I would say they are young but old enough to eat on their own and be silly. Sadly one of the female mothers was hit by a car today. These turkeys come here everyday and I noticed o e female with more young with her and some were calling out….I thought it was odd and sure enough…she was hit by a car. Will the other female take in the babies?? I’m so sad for them.

I saw pictures once of a common golden eye (wild duck) with 87 ducklings, she started with a dozen and kidnapped (or borrowed) some from other hens! Orphan calves (or those with lousy mothers) often learn to steal milk from other cows. Animals can be pretty resilient! The poults might even be old enough to figure stuff out on their own, but turkeys are super social so they’ll probably get adopted by somebody. One was dating my daughter last summer (lonely Tom at the park decided my 6 year old was just his size, hmmm).
