We were walking our dogs and saw these four birds sitting near the side of the road (quiet, semi-rural). They seemed tame. I came back with some chick food and water and they were closer to the road so I walked back to where they were earlier and called to them and they came over to me. Crazy, right? What were they? It looks like maybe they have a disease, do you think mama abandoned them? I sat with them for about ten minutes and they hung out about a foot away from me the whole time. They didn't eat the food or drink the water and I didn't touch them and we took our shoes off to bleach before we walked inside our house. But heck, our week old baby chicks aren't even that tame! Anyway, anyone know what they are, and maybe even a theory if they are diseased and were abandoned? (The pics aren't great, there was a black one, a white one, and two brown.) There are tons of turkey vultures around where we live.

Your pics are most likely of a Bourbon Red poult that appears to have fowl pox. From your description, these are domestic turkeys and have either wandered away from their home or else they were abandoned by their previous owner/s.
