Wildfires and smoke

Thanks so much for the offer!
It looks like we are holding steady over here in Altadena, the fire seems to be staying on the back side of the mountains that face us,we have all kept our eyes on the ridge , hoping it doesnt creep over and work it's way down to us. I can't believe what I just heard on the news, 105 thousand acres burned and no hope for complete containment until September 15th!!

I wes just thinking that for a few birds a home-made tractor/crate would be a good future investment. Could be used as a pet hospital in the coop or house, too, and then enlisted for transport in an emergency...

You folks are going through a terrible time. Hoping everything works out.

I just couldnt imagine all of the smoke etc.. I get irritated when someoen up on the hill burns their garbage and its wafting down to us..

What I allways wanted to know .. and please dont take this a dig on you guys or a bashing..I know this is alot ot deal with right now and i just wanted to know.. I guess I never understood why people stay there knowing this happends alot.
But why live there if you all know this happends every year or 2 ? When do you say .. enough is enough we are moving to not lose everything we own again for th 2nd or 3rd time?
When do you say I am not going to live in fear that my animals and house and possibly my own live is in danger ?

Please stay safe.. I hope the wind turns and it will be out soon.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me.
I am also in an area that forest fires can and has threatened.

I love the area and thats why I settled here and stay.
Every year its the same thing. Lightening can hit and things can be toast mighty fast. Hasn't been a forest fire here for many years now tho..

You know you spend your life building something up, invested in it. Not so easy just to turn tail and leave because something may happen.

Many places have their own threat, guess its what one can deal or try to deal with the best one can.
Flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.. and the list goes on.

Here I have a way to get myself and animals out, thats a must when living in these areas I feel. Oh there's been time I got caught behind the 8 ball but had to find a way around it.

Did that make any sense to you, toredano?

Re 'Why we live here?' Its a little bit rural, yet close to the city, the trees are tall and bountiful, the lots are bigger, the town slower, less traffic, clean air, and the views of the valley and tall surrouinding mountains are fantastic. Its worth the possibility of fire and earthquakes. I guess its a similar question to 'why live in the plain states with the threat of tornadoes?'

Yahooooo! The smoke is clearing, and I can finally see the mountains again. Its even cooler today, so think i will throw open the windows tonight. I have so missed having them open for the night air. After a week indoors in their thier brooder box the triplets enjoyed being back outside today. Guess its back to normal for us?!
