Wildlife thread

I made my mom call animal control even though it's 9pm on a Sunday LOL I'm sure another animal or it's injury will kill it by tomorrow

but I just wanted to let them know anyway. I felt so bad for the poor thing that I just couldn't not cool. I'm way too soft hearted lol

I hope they can either save/rehab it or at the least put it out of it's misery if it's still there in the morning.

But realistically I know the odds are slim but I feel horrible
that is awful hate seeing when animals suffer.

well an update on the wild life i have,

i went out and checked the trap for the badger and got nothing (so went to the city and got some trapping lure for them) went for a walk in the horse pasture and there are a lot of badger holes most of them are starting to collapse, but again a few look like something could be in it.

now for the good news, we have a ton of mole hills which is pretty cool, and quite a few gopher holes, (again there food for any badgers we have lol)

and found some coyote poop... not good.

Sorry I never replied, forgot :(

Did you ever catch whatever was in the holes?

Lots of wildlife here lately.

Turkeys hung out all day yesterday and were here for a few days before too. The tom was trying to impress the girls and they weren't interested and it was hilarious lol

Also saw a deer yesterday.

And just saw another deer.

Also think I saw a hawk

no :( but we got a new trap for badgers) so hoping to catch something in it.

ya i hope to catch it, but nothing so far.

but i looked back and realized on how much wildlife i missed when i said what we have here.

we own a farm down south in my province, (no one lives on it so its great for hunting/wildlife watching)
it has white tail deer, mule deer, moose, could have elk (an hour away from it there are elk), have seen some sharp tail grouse on it (my friend shot one), could have ruffed grouse, Hungarian/gray partridges, jack rabbits, cotton tails and snow shoe rabbits/hares, weasels, minks, muskrats, countless species of ducks/geese that are on the sloughs. and the odd badger den. and were in the talks of maybe getting a trout pond.

well found a dead rabbit half eaten by coyotes, kinda sucks (as coyotes are every where here) so one less rabbit around. :(

(what really sucks is that if i knew it was going to get killed by coyotes i would have shot it my self and eaten it.)

Aww that's so sad! But dont blame yourself or anything, no way you could have known or shot it yourself, there are sooo many rabbits. And also as sad as it is, the coyotes need to eat too
