Will a barn cat kill my chickens?

I have two outdoor kitties (technically adult cats). Neither one mess with my flock. One of our cats will even sleep in the coop and/or lay on eggs to keep them warm when the broody hens wants to get up to stretch her legs or to get food/water. Both of our cats will kill wild birds tho' and they catch and eat moles and mice, but they just don't mess with the chickens.

I'm glad you asked this because I've always worried about my neighbor's cats. I'm almost sure I lost a sweet little Polish Bantam to one of those cats. They do lurk around, and I know they don't bother the large fowl chickens I have, but I'm always afraid for my banties......I don't fully trust them around the cute little banties....I have a bantam flock of my little eye candy chickens.....They're strictly pets, and I'm more attached to them than the large fowl....

I would think the sex, neuter (YN), Feral (Y.N) and, 'breed' would be KEY factors in relating anecdotal stories about one's experience(s) keeping cats around one's chickens.

Of course, even with that data, breeding and environmental factors might contribute to disparate results.

None the less, the more factual, objective information provided, the worthier the anecdotal information shared.

e.g. More Facts = More Value; Less Facts, well opinions are like anal orifices . . .
