I've stuck a loner hatcher in with my broody and all is well. They took to each other with any problems. I have 2 eggs due to hatch around the 24th. Would the same hen take the newbies as well? This hen has been broody for months and my mum couldn't bring her out of it, so she is very motherly

Worth a try, but watch very closely. We have a hen that was broody last year. When I bought chicks this year and put them in the broody box, she hopped in and started showing the chicks how to scratch and get worms. She is awesome. I didn't leave her in there because I have 30+ chicks in there and I don't want her to go broody. She lays a good sized egg everyday and when she is broody it does a number on her body. I have to remove her from the nest each day so she will eat and poop. She lost a lot of weight last year and we were worried about her getting sick or dying. Good luck and keep us posted.

I think it's definitely worth a try, I hatched 8 chicks last year but I still had two eggs to go. I kept the chicks, inside for a couple of hours until they could walk then I put them back with the mother immediately. Good luck
