i really need to know.shes got alot now.but i was wondering will she take as many as i give her or will she get fed up with so many kids and leave them??

i know not to give her more than she can cover to keep warm but i was just wondering if she would accept more if i gave her some.??

is she happy with many chicks or just a few.???

im trying to say something but i cant phrase it right.

will she be proud that she has alot of chicks to be a mother to or will she not?

Last summer mine had 4 and she was a proud as could be!

i went out and checked to see how many she has and she has 16-17!!!! she can cover them all and shes a bantam cochin.

shes got 3 standard and 12-13 banties.

How old are the chicks that she already has? Are there any eggs left to hatch?
If they are more than a day or two old, she may not accept more chicks. The chicks she has are going to grow. She may not have room enough to cover any more. Think about the size of the chicks in two or 3 weeks and your air temps and how cool a chick might become if it can't fit under Mama.
If you do give her any more, I'd watch very closely. And have a brooder ready.
The chicken is an animal who runs on instinct. She won't up and leave because there are too many.

thanks.

i have a brooder.theres chicks in it now.

all these chicks are from mcmurray.

she has 16 but i took 5 away today because they were my replacemtns and a week younger than the others and they couldnt keep up.

she accepts chicks very well.
i dont think that will be a problem but we will see.
ill put the others back under her around monday or so.

she covers everyone of them...very well! it suprised me. i gave her as many as she could cover. that was 16-17.

now she has a bunch more room.

maybe i wont give her more though bc like u said in 2-3 weeks there gonna be alot! bigger.
thanks for your help. :)
