Will a chick separated from hen stray away from coop?

We have a secure coop with a large covered run at the bottom of the garden (UK), last night our hen, 5 chicks and 3 juvenile frizzles were all accounted for and shut away for the night, the coop door was then reopened this morning giving them access to the run again, when I later went to check on them there was 1 chick missing (2week old), we believe it may have been able to squeeze out of a very very small gap under the corner of run at a push but this would have been a difficult task for it (we had blocked gap with plank of wood but it had been somehow moved, there is no sign of it, we cant hear it but no sign of a struggle either, could it just have wondered off?
We thought a chick if in this situation wouldn't go far as it would just try to get back to its mother?
If it has got out and wondered off, could it turn back up or is it likely it wont survive without the warmth of its mother? I don't know how long they can go without her. We have been searching all day!

When mine get separated from their mom for whatever reason they make a racket, i dought it wondered away by itself unless something is chasing it, then it may find a place to hide till momma comes back by.
Hope you find it.

A two week old chick would not separate voluntarily from its mother without putting up a huge racket. The only possibility I can see with a happy ending is that the chick was spooked by something and has gone into "duck and cover" mode. The chick probably will not be found if any other scenario happened.

I hope you find the chick. Good luck.

I'm wondering about that gap and the plank that 'somehow' moved, I'd nail that plank down, then periodically check it for claw/tooth marks. Even up till weaning a chick separated from the hen will cry and cry, loudly. You have a small predator I think, a weasel, rat,or snake.
