I have two 4 week oldish chicks. One is nearly feathered out but his/her brooder-mate just has wing feathers and sporadic feathers here and there with a lot of fluff still. I have been bringing them outside for about a week now on nice days where the temp is 65+ and they are both fine. They haven't been sleeping under the lamp at night.
So here's the deal: We got 6 baby chicks today and I only have one heat lamp. I'm keeping them quarantined and since they are so little and fluffy I put the heat lamp over their bin. For my other two, I am using a big tupperware bin thing and since I don't have a heat lamp for them, I put the cover on with some holes drilled in it for air circulation. Do you think that will be warm enough for her? Our house temp stays around 60-65. I figured body heat and deep litter would be sufficient... or am I setting myself up for failure?
Thanks!!
