Will a light Sussex go broody?

I have four hens, all hybrids. I have a speckeldy, a local hybrid call a marigold very similar to a ranger, a little ginger ranger and my top hen is a light Sussex. I would like to raise chicks at some point. I assume my light Sussex is the best option? Do they go broody? Any way to encourage broodiness? Has any experienced broody light Sussex? Please help.

Your Sussex is the most likely bird to go broody. However, it really depends on the specific bird. To encourage her to go broody, put some fake eggs in the nest boxes, or let eggs acumulate in it. Often, the sight of eggs piling up in a nest box will make a hen go broody. You can't force a bird to go broody, though: some birds do, and some birds don't.
