Will a mongoose take out a meat bird?

Needing to build a coop for my 15 meaties arriving in a few weeks. Don't want to get too fancy, but want to protect. Mongoose are the biggest threat here-will they really take out a large chicken? Babies are a guarantee but bigger ones?

I'm no expert at all but read that mongoose only try to get chicks because they're attracted to the peeping. Not adult birds. But my source could be wrong lol

Have you been successful in preventing mongoose from attacking your birds?

A meat type chicken is somewhat less mobile than a baloney sandwich. While I have never dealt with 'mongeeses' I can not but believe that they would find a dumb, slow, CornishX type chicken tempting as well as easy to take down.

I'm told they go after the eggs ... I am a newbee but my neighbor said that was her biggest concern.
