Will a hen who is truly broody move into diff. nest boxes???

We marked an egg with a lg X on an egg; so everyone knows to NOT collect that egg..to try to let her hatch it...

but she keeps moving into diff. nest boxes...and sitting on diff. eggs..grrr...

is THIS why ppl seclude them into ONE place w/ONE nest box??? that she cant move into other boxes???

or is she really NOT broody?

she isnt out w/the others in the run or the roose ...I havent seen her eat/drink...nothing...

she kinda squawks...when you touch her...and her feathers kinda rise...

Yeah, sometimes they move around . Sometimes they all try to brood in one box. It's a wonder anything hatches at all sometimes. Maybe she's not sure what she needs to do. If you have a separate broody pen, that might help.

no I dont...but I mean I can section a part of the coop if REALLY need be...but it wont be done til like next wk...

but what do I do? if I just get a dog kennel cage..I have one...we can put her in it..but she wont be able to get out IF she decides to eat/drink...or move...

I don't know what you are going to be able to do about your hen without regards to housing, but they very definitely lose their way going back to the eggs.

A broody hen of mine would regularly go to sit on rubber eggs in a box a few feet from her. She is now isolated in a broody pen.
