Hey everyone, I’ve noticed that there’s TOONSSSS of ants crawling all over and inside my chickens coop. Is this going to be a problem for my chickens?? Or will they just eat them no problem? I have 2 adult hens, no chicks and I’m not planning on having chicks so that’s not what I’m concerned about. Just wanted to know if the ants are going to cause problems and infest the coop.

Sounds like they have already infested.....what kind of ants?
Fire ants can kill a bird.
Im not sure what kind they are but I live in south Florida and they’re black so they’re probably carpenter ants?

Your location is why I mentioned fire ants.
Lots of different kinds of ants, hard to ID accurately.
Is this a new coop setup or a new ant infestation or....?

This is a new coop I built just last week, I’m pretty sure the ants have always been around but I haven’t noticed because they never got in the house
