I am hatching duck eggs and today is day 28. I put in 17 healthy looking eggs into lockdown. During the first 25 days my temperature was 99.5 and humidity was around 50%. Yesterday at 4:30pm (day 27) one egg externally pipped. This morning there was one more egg that had externally pipped. It is now close too 7:30 on day 28 and nothing else has happened. Will anymore pip? Also it has been 27 hours since the first egg pipped and all he has done is made two star shaped little cracks. He is moving around like crazy. Do I need to help him soon?

I wouldn't worry just yet as ducks can take up to 48 hours to actually hatch. They take forever.

It's very likely more will pip. Incubators tend to have warmer and cooler spots so that affects how quickly the eggs grow and hatch. You can rotate the eggs around different spots in the incubator over the course of incubation to even these differences out.

This is an excellent thread packed full of information in the first entry. It applies to all hatching eggs but it's found in the Goose forum:

It's well worth a read while you wait.

Yep just wait, incubators are known to have temperature zones. So some will hatch on time while others will hatch late. Make sure your humidity is at a good percentage for hatching them out.

Thanks for the information

We have one baby this morning. Only one more egg has pipped so I am hoping really those two will hatch.

It's such a cutie. Hopefully its peeping will get some other babies moving.
I think he is helping. The two others that have pipped are moving. I also saw a couple other eggs wiggle. How long would you leave him in there? At 4:00am tomorrow morning will be 24 hours in the incubator. I really don’t want to put him in the brooder tonight without any friends
