Will Be Testing Ways to Keep Predators Off Chickens

Several critters are pilfering a farmer I work with. Several as in species. On raccoon side alone there maybe 10 individuals at any one time getting into a raceway to consume crayfish. List also includes River Otter, American Mink, Great Blue Heron and Green Heron. Combined, the critters may be taking hundreds of dollars worth of stock each night all season long. We will be testing different methods to keep the critters away from certain areas with breaking bank. Trapping will be used later.


Below is sequence of Raccoon in trap eating crayfish used as bait. Second video is trapped raccoon causing itself and trap to fall into raceway where crayfish then begin to eat raccoon. Missed raccoon actually walking into trap and setting it off.

I feel bad for the raccoon, falling into water and being eaten alive by crayfish while drowning is a horrible way to die in my humble opinion. Sounds like something from a horror movie, *shivers*.
