Using heavy duty toe-nail clippers, cross cut of lower bill with only light colored part actually cut. Normal beak function will not be fully restored by single trimming. Lower bill will need repeated treatment. Hopefully the upper bill with will grow back out somewhat. If it does, then process will take months. Final product will still look odd but the majority of function will be restored. It is be some time before bird is able to consume isolated particulates or make snippets off leaves.
