Will Black Australorp pullet eggs be fertile?

I have a Black Australorp pullet which has been squatting and mated by a Roo, that i'm sure is getting ready to lay any time now. A Red Tail Hawk attacked her and my silkie cockerel gave his life saving her.... she is doing alright...no wounds....it is like she was squished... i have her inside and she is resting. She's eating and drinking...but is sore....i'm hoping no internal damage and she will be fine and have no problems laying

My question ... if she lays an egg soon....say within a week will it be fertile? Thanks

While not a certainty, there is a good chance. Hope she is OK.

Yes. She is 8 months this month

Are you positive that she is a pullet and not a cockerel? I'm surprised that she is not laying already, but sometimes you get a hen that is just slow to mature.
