I am going to be showing my broody mama that currently has 3 chicks in 2-3 weeks and I’m worried that they’re too young to go from broody-raised to on their own. Mama would be gone for 3-5 days and I’m wondering if her broodiness would be broken by the time she got back, or if the chicks would forget her, or really if it would work out so that everything goes back to normal after the showing. What should I do if it doesn’t? The chicks hatched on June 13th.

Mama may or may not accept them back, but if your hen goes to the show, then you probably shouldn't put the chicks back with her, anyway. At 5-6 weeks old, they won't have any resistance to anything she may get exposed to at the show. It's not likely she'll pick up anything that would hurt her, but little ones are really susceptible to things a grown bird can easily handle. It's a risk we take when traveling to shows. If you really want her to raise her own babies, I recommend leaving her home.
I don't remember where I saw it, but there was a cute pic posted online a while back where a Mama stayed home with her babies. The owner posted a family picture, complete with a "Dear Judge" apology note ... signed by the hen. Mama got a signed note congratulating her on her new family ... written right on her coop card!
