Will chicken eggs hatch under a goose?

I have a goose thats been broody almost a week, and somehow, my two welsummer hens who share the shed with her have laid a couple eggs underneath her. Which amazes me since I can't get two feet from the shed without being hissed at and nipped at. But will my goose hatch the eggs if given the chance? She doesn't seem to mind them, especially since she is only sitting on two of her own eggs.

Thanks
Sierra

They will hatch on different days so I suggest if she abandons the nest with the first hatch that you incubate the rest as she won't come back to the nest, whether its chicks or goslings that hatch. I don't know if the humidity, etc. will be a problem. Good luck!!!

Hm. That would be bad. I'm more excited for the Toulouse eggs then the Australorp x Welsummers sadly. I'll probably snatch them from her and incubate them myself. Thanks for the fast reply!

Yeah, she could hatch them out, I would just be careful, I had one do that, but she led them right down to the pond, and most of them drowned.... :-(

I think there are far more bad then good in letting her set them. I'm sorry for your loss, I almost found out the hard way that chickens can't swim, a rooster of mine jumped into a creek but luckily I was there to grab him. Now is the hard part, grabbing the eggs from under the goose.

Thanks everyone

Wait until she's off the nest and see if you can't stuff the chicken eggs back beneath the chicken

It's worth a try (and the bites)

Thanks, I did. She squished a couple and I think the nest is pretty gooey now so I'm going to put new litter in it and hope the goose doesn't change her mind about brooding if I do.
