i have an 8x8 coop, with a run probably 3x the size of the coop. the run is enclosed with chicken wire. the holes are probably about 2 inches x maybe an inch and a half. are the holes small enough to keep any predators out? I have a bunch of rolls of mesh, with probably half inch x half inch holes. I can put the small mesh on the chicken wire if needed, should i?

thanks

Dogs, raccoons, and coyotes could tear through it if the wanted to bad enough. Weasels could easily go through it. Skunks and foxes could dig under if there is no bottom or wire underground. I would recommend the small mesh to be put over the chicken wire. And bury it a foot or so underground as well. Especially if you have a lot of predator troubles. Better safe than sorry.

Your first wire is chicken wire. That stuff can be ripped open by coons, possums and coyotes. However, adding your hardware wire will keep everything but the largest predators out.
