will chickens over eat? And are there any members near Jackson, MS

Are your birds broilers (meat birds like Cornish X) or laying birds? For the latter, it isn't so much about overeating as it is the risk of eating too much of the wrong stuff. Treats (this is anything other than the commercial feed) should comprise no more than 10% of their overall daily intake of feed in order to get the maximum benefit from the feed program you have chosen. If a bird fills up on less nutrient dense food items you have the issue of their overall nutrition suffering. What is the base for our current feed plan - ie commercial grower ration, commercial layer ration, home blend (if so, what is the nutritional content), etc?

Thanks for getting back with me. I have 1 huge white chicken, 3 Road Island Reds, 1 shrimp that's black & white, and a 6 mon. rouster that's blueish silver with a pretty redish/orange feathers around his neck. I mix laying pellets with cracked corn.
