This may be the wrong forum but here goes.
My husband killed a 2 foot copperhead and was too tired afterward to deal with body and left it on a concrete thing in our yard overnight. Our chickens were doing fine at that time, he checked on them for the night, etc. This evening, the snake body was gone, and the chicken flock was depleted by about a half dozen month old chicks. They aren't gone, their bodies are still there. They look like they hunkered down for the night and died in their sleep. No evidence of anything attacking them. We're wondering if one of the full grown chickens dragged the snake body into the run and the babies ate it and got poisoned.
