will feed go stale

I don't have any proof one way or the other on feed going stale but I understand light weight breeds eat about 4 oz. feed per bird per day, or 1.5 lbs per day. Less if they free range or get treats. With 6 birds that means in 20 days they would empty your 30 pound feeder....and even less time if you have heavier breeds. I don't think your feed will get stale or lose nutritional value in that amount of time. Just my opinion.

I don't have any experience with chicken feed going stale (personally, I prefer regular human food), but I do know bugs (weevils) and such will start multiplying after a while depending on how many eggs were in there to begin with. Not really a big deal if the feed is eaten quick enough, but can be a problem if left for several months.

Like redsoxs said, you're probably just fine.

It should be ok if it is somewhere it won't get dampened. If it gets moist, it will mold. You can fill it half way to start, and just see how that does
