Will Gable end vents keep out raccoons?

So My husband was thinking pred proof when he built our coop, but theres very little ventilation now. He is using an exhaust fan with very few vent openings. I know its not enough, but he is doing the Mansplaining thng to me I can put in the gable vents myself. My question is- Are they pred proof? Mainly raccoons around here. Thank you!

I just cut the siding off an area that was framed out the size I wanted, stapled on 1/2" hardware cloth over the studs and trimmed it with some boards.

yes. durable and small holes. no little hands can get in and cant bite or chew through

there are different sizes but heres a pic to kinda gauge what its like. it can be gotten through but if its going as "windows" higher up you dont have to worry so much and still takes alot to get through. ive yet to have anything rip through it in the 20 plus years of using it and i use it as a trim around the whole run to "baby" proof the run

Ok great thanks for the pic. I might have some of that around here. Is that comparable to gopher wire? Then you just staple it around the area you cut?

I had to look up gopher wire and no, very very different. Gopher wire (or chicken wire) is NOT predator proof! Hardware cloth is.
