Will he ever get SPURS??

This is Ruben our 13 week old rooster. (He is a rooster right?

) His sister Polly is right below him in the picture.
Ruben does not have spurs yet. When will he get them?
Also, he doesn't really act like a rooster toward my big girls. The big girls definitely wear the pants in the flock. Will this change or will he continue to act like he is scared of them? He did perk up a bit when I let my 10 8 week old pullets in with the big girls.

Has Rueben been crowing? My roo likes to stand by & act cool, while watching the hens and making porno- rooster comments.( grunts, gurgles, and groans.

Spur growth depends on breed and age. Most of our heritage breeds start getting spur bumps at around 6 months and true spurs around a year or so of age.

Other than that no other signs at all, other than his obvious good looks.

My cochin didn't crow until he was over a year old. I offed him when he was almost two and he still just had nubby spurs.

Most of our roosters didn't start to really grow spurs until they were close to a year old.
