Will hens go broody without a rooster

I have 7 hens, all about 1 year old. they have never gone broody until yesterday. I just recently got a rooster (only about 4 months old) from a neighbor. Now, i have one hen wanting to sit. Just curious if hens will go broody without roosters, or if it's because i now have a rooster?

They most certainly will!

. It is a hormonal change in them.
