Will her feathers ever grow back?

This silkie mix lost feathers on her back because the rooster is just too big for her. So I bought her an apron, hoping that would protect her and let the feathers grow back.

Then she went broody so I had her separated for about 5 weeks.

She's been back outside for about 2 months now and at no point did it ever seem like feathers were growing back - when she had the apron, when she was away from the rooster, or now.

Will it ever grow back?

Yes, it will eventually grow back. I've heard that feathers take a long time to grow back.

She'll need to molt out the old, broken feathers before new feathers can grow. Once she molts she'll have new feathers in no time.
