Will it survive?

My sister in law gave us 3 eggs on May 4th. She has a few roosters we don't. It was our daughter christening so we left them in the oven (off) over night and place them in the coop on the 5th. I put a red x on each so I knew which ones they were. The hens where on and off them in the beginning. For a few weeks now one of our hens has been laying on them barely eating (probably since May 11+/-). Yesterday (June 8) we still had not seen any signs of hatching. Beings it has been 4+ weeks we decided to get the eggs. I waited for her to leave the box but she was still in the coop when I grabbed the egg. She turned to run and peck at me (odd for her because you can pet all my chickens) I was startled and dropped 2 of the eggs. One of the eggs the shell popped of, Membrane intact and I could see something moving. I didn't know what to do, so I just put it back with the other possible fertile egg and she sat right back on them. Will the chick survive? Is there anything I can do? She is still on them now. I feel so horrible, all the research I did online said 21days so we figured they were all bad :-( my SIL told me just to leave it and Henrietta would know what to do.

Looking for feedback

Thanks

Oh no! How big is the chip? There are ways to carefully seal chips in eggshells, from wax to tape, but I've never done it before. Is the hole big enough to see how far along the chick is? That seems a very long time for incubation of a chicken egg so maybe it's almost ready to hatch? :fl

At 4 weeks and no chicks, I'd say that they weren't fertile. It would probably be best to 'break' the hen of her broodiness if she's not setting on fertile eggs.

Sorry to say this. But it probably will not survive. Others here have "repaired" cracked eggs with things like nail polish and liquid bandage with some success, though!

Your mama hennie may have had different ages of eggs under her, and it is also possible that another hen laid a fertile egg and she took it. Broodies can have days between embryo ages for this reason! The baby may still be okay but depending on how much shell came off, keep an eye on mama. She may try to 'help' because she thinks the chick is pipping. I hope you have a few chickies for her!

Thank you all. The baby didn't survive. :-( Although mostly formed it looked as if mama hen crushed it because the shell was too compromised. We named it Angel and buried her/him in our memorial garden for my mother in law and my father.
