My chickens were hatched June 1st and I was wondering if I can expect them to lay any eggs before next spring. I have 1 buff Orpington, 2 Dominique, 1 Barred Rock Plymoth, and 1 Welsummer. I do not have power to the coop and the chickens will not have extra light during the winter. I live in Maryland, so we do have reduced light in winter as a factor. My uncle swears I won't get any eggs until spring, but these are winter hardy breeds right? So I am hoping that they might have a few eggs for me during the winter.
Thanks for any advice,
Jenn
