Hello everyone. My 2- week old chick just got out and had her neck pecked raw. I reunited her with her mama, who promptly pecked the chick’s neck, presumably because it is red. Can I keep them to whether if I use Vetericyn and bandage her skinny little neck? Or will she be killed by her own mother?

I don’t have Blu Kote. I’ll have to look it up. In the meantime, I’ll keep her inside.

Dang, chickens are vicious!

Do you have any pictures of the wound? Most feed stores have BluKote. Betadine might color it brown and disguise it. Alushield is an aluminum colored wound coating, available here:

If it is severe or deep, it may be better to separate her, and continue the Vetericyn and Neosporin.
Thank you. It is severe, so I brought her inside by herself. She is drinking water, so perhaps there is hope.
