Will mice kill chicks?

It could go either way but a rat will kill a bird...chick, parrot, parakeet, canary, robins you name it. I would think a mouse could be just a lethal to a chick.

A former neighbor came running to my house one day with his pet python...a 3 ft ball python. He had put a small feeder rat in the cage and the rat tore that snake up...I tried to save the snake but no go. This rat was no bigger than a grown mouse.

My opinion...kill mouse, toss food and try missprissy's suggestion.

I know mice and rats are very different but I’ve definitely had some nasty rat attacks when I had quail and they would steal one each night, and boy they were hard to get ride of! But two days ago, I went into my shed to check on our baby Guineas and chicks and one of the Guineas were missing, so I looked all over trying to find it in the shed but I couldn’t hear it peeping anywhere. Finally found a dead, partly devoured guinea behind some stuff. There were mouse droppings all around it and it definitely was something small because it’s stomach looked like it had been chewed open, but I couldn’t find any signs of rats, and dear god, I hope that’s not what I have! So since then I’ve rapped the top of the bins with hardware cloth. I put out live mouse traps and hoping I’ll get em’. So maybe mice will kill chicks. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again! :fl

No! A mouse will not kill a chick.

The droppings might not do them much good in the feed though, and in the interests of reducing risks to poultry, potential disease carriers should be controlled.
my chicks did get killed by mice
