Will my black sex link ever lay?

My 3 BSL's were 1-2 weeks older than the others and were the first to lay about 5-6 weeks ago. They are the biggest birds I have and give me the best eggs (so far!). They were 19-20 weeks at POL.

Well of course after I made this post she started laying about a week later. Almost 8 months till her first egg.

Yes. The other chicks I got that are the same age started right around 4 months. But she does lay beautiful big eggs and some double yolked.

I got two BSL and two Americaunas in April of this year because a nasty racoon had desimated my small 4 Americauna hen and 1 Roo flock this last winter. I was down to just the roo and one hen, Lucy. Lucy is still the only one laying although one of the BSL has a bright red comb and lovely waddles. She is not hiding the eggs that I have found, just not laying yet. . . .I am impatient since I hate old grocery store eggs, love baking, and Lucy's one egg a day is causing rationing.

She isn't hiding them cause we do make sure we look for them underneath the straw everyday in the coop. I'm sure she's just a "late bloomer". I'm just happy to know that Black Sex Links do lay eggs, I thought maybe she never would. Thank ya'll.

Don't limit searches to the straw in the coop unless she is locked up in the coop all of the time. Sometimes they don't get the idea about the nest boxes or coop being the best place to lay and will find other areas to nest....under the coop, in corners of the run, if they free range at all they could literally be anywhere! If you know for sure she's laying now, keep an eye out for other places she might find suitable for laying.

I have a white "Leghorn" (I think) & a "Golden Comet" (a red hen) that are somewhere around 21 weeks old. I also have 5 "Americaunas" ( that's how they were sold to me as chicks) that are around 15 weeks. The GC started laying after 16 weeks. She lays a brown egg every day. One of the other chickens has been laying a very dark brown egg every day as well, for about a week,
but I haven't caught her in the act so I don't know which chicken is laying it. Could the "Leghorn" be a genetic oddity & be laying these dark brown eggs? I thought white Leghorns lay white eggs. She has white ears too. I have gotten no white eggs as yet so either the Leghorn is slow to mature & one of the young girls is early or the Leghorn is the odd one & laying the dark brown eggs? Anyone got any
ideas?

My mystery is solved. The red chicken, Lucy, is laying the dark brown eggs - caught her in the act. That leaves that supposed White Leghorn. She must be a cross between a Leghorn and some sort of red chicken and is laying the light brown eggs. The Americaunas
are almost 18 weeks now & have not started to lay yet.
