Hi I have one olive egger pullet (or,well, I'm pretty sure is a pullet) and one FCM cockerel and one mallard duck that I don't know if it's a drake or a hen and I was looking for some advice. Firstly, I want to know some ways to tell if my birds are boys or girls. They are 3 months old and I've had the chickens since they're first day as eggs. But I still don't know any of their genders. And I would also like to know- do any of those breeds go broody? And can I use them to hatch different types of eggs? Like chicken, duck, swan, goose, quail, pheasant, ect? Thank you so much for he help! And I also have some questions about the eggs in my incubator right now, if anyone would be willing to answer them

If your mallard is a girl she will go broody. She can hatch out several species but you can not let her have access to open water or she will try to make the babies swim which will kill them.

We can help what sex they are by looking at their pictures ! You never know when they will go broody! One of my hen didnt sit on them until shes almost 2 years old ! right now one broody hen is sitting on hers and shes 7 months old. she is sitting on 18 eggs, most of them are not hers ! you can used duck eggs too, but put it under them at night so they wont know it ! Go on and ask more questions ! thats what backyard chickens are for !

Thank you! But I unfortunately am not able to post pics.... I can try but I've been unsuccessful for the past 3 months. And ok well get ready for a stampede of questions! Alright- firstly I think I can try to describe my chicks. The chickens are both black, but one has a greenish sheen to its feathers but a small comb that hasn't grown at all and in no way seems pinkish or reddish at all. Just A light pale/pink color. And it's super sweet. I'm pretty sure it's a FCM too. The other one is black with a grayish sheen and her neck has copper flecks ad she has black fluffy cheeks and no feathers on her black legs (the other has slightly feathery black legs) and she too is extremely sweet but is more dominant. Her comb is more pinkish than the other ones but it hasn't grown at all. This one is also bigger than the other one by a bit even though she hatched much smaller. I can tell u that they are either FCMs, ameraucanas, or a mix (olive eggers) but I can't decide which breed each is or what gender. I don't see any curly tail feathers either though. Question 2: are French copper marans (FCMs) rare? And how much could I sell a dozen FCM eggs for? I haven't been able to find much info on them so Im just curious. Next question: with my mallard, who is also 3 months old, he/she has mottled brown feathering right now (but I heard drakes r like that when young and out of breeding season) and am orange beak with some gray on it, orange legs, and a brown head, but I can see a small amount of green feathers on its head too. And I don't see a tail curl either. But I'm not experienced so I need help on this too. NEXT question: Ive been wanting to get him/her a mate. But I don't know what breed would be best. If my mallard (Joey btw) is a girl, I wanted to get her a mandarin duck for a mate. But would this work out well? Their coop is 24 square feet and about 5-5 1/2 feet high. And we live in a small town with a 1/2 backyard and 2 dogs. I don't know if this is a great place for a mandarin to live so I'm asking the pros. If Joey is a boy, I was going to get a Cayuga duck for a mate. But do cayugas go broody? Because I want to use my birds to incubate sometimes. Especially the ducks. Now I have my incubator questions. I have a little homemade incubator made out of a styrafoam box and a heat lamp that I bought at Kroger that I know works (with limited success) because I did hatch both my sweet little chicks in it, shoot and healthy (although I had to help aqua) and almost a duck. Right now I have 2 developing eggs in there (a bantam and an unknown chicken egg) one is very small and white, and the other is light brown with darker flecks. They seem to be developing ok with strong veining and little embryos with eyes now at day 8 or 9 I think but they started a little late. I have 9 others from the same farm in the bator that I THINK are on day 4 or something and I believe I see 2 or 3 just beginning to develop. The incubator has been going at 100-102 F (still air) but sometimes 99 and very rare at 104 for short period of time that I bring down quickly. Can anyone help me with this? Like hat kind of breeds are my 2 week-old eggs and why are they all starting so late? What are my chances of a hatch? This is my 2nd time incubating and I had success with my first. I am SO SORRY about this super long post but I just let out practically EVERY SINGLE question I had. You don't need to answer a these I'd just like some help. Thank you all so much! Once again sorry about the super long post!!!!

I also made some spelling mistakes so if y'all see some works in there that make no sense, then I probably made a typing mistake sorreh :p

this is my little aqua. sheis 3 moths old, super friendly, super sweet, and seems to be the dominant chick of the two.
