Will my chicks be safe in the garage?

Hello! So I currently have 25 chicks in a water trough in my LIVINGROOM and while we LOVE watching them, I would like my house back. The chicks are roughly 2 weeks old (based on them having 90% of their wing feathers and their tail feathers starting). I would like to move them into the garage where I was thinking of building a bit larger brooding box.
I live in the northern Midwest so April's can be 20s-60s depending on the HOUR. my garage is insulated but not air tight so it does seem to stay chilly in there. Probably mid 30s to 40s.
Will my chicks be OK in there with the heat light?

Should be fine! I brood chicks in my plastic shed which is not insulated. Even in the dead of winter they are ok with a heat lamp, space heater, and lots of checking in on them.

My 18 new pullets only spend two weeks in my garage in the big tote, with their heat lamp, until I move them to the chick run out in the chicken barn. There they have a 5'x5' room with food, water, and a big open nest with heat lamp over it, and a small grassed outdoor run very secure. Where I give them various greens and bugs to peck at and learn to scratch and peck. Once they have all their feathers, I start turning off the heat during the day, and only turn it on at night, then start raising it up so they learn to deal with cold temps at night, till I notice them choosing other roosting areas, I give them a small roost, at two months, it's just above head height for them, and they fly up, once they choose to roost on the perch rather than under the lamp in the nest, I remove the lamp, and move them to their permanent house.

We have our 4 week olds in the garage - moved them out about a week ago. Temps got pretty low last night - around 20 degrees...they did ok but I wished I had a second heat lamp for them this morning. They were around 60-65 degrees under the lamp, a bit cold but acting fine. I adjusted their heat lamp and they all seem happy! I'd put them out there and just check them often, make adjustments with the light as you need to! Especially since you have 25, they can provide each other with some warmth if they have to.

Thank you all! I've got them relocated and checked on them often thought today. Still nervous for the evening but I put lots of bedding and made sure the light was right. Fingers crossed they do OK over night 😬

This is their pen. I had cardboard boxes saved up so I've got some around the outside edges near the back to help with any drafts and to help hold in some heat. I have plywood but couldnt borrow a table saw today so the cardboard will have to do for tonight.

They all survived and have been doing well! Finally was able to eliminate the second heat source this week thanks to normal spring Temps ❤

This post has been so helpful. Thank you! I currently have 10 four week olds in my basement and need to transition to my garage hopefully by around 20 Dec... will be interesting as we are in the northeast and it will be COLD!

I have two heat plates and will use space heaters too. I've been told I need to take them up there for periods of time during the lead up to their transition. Did you do this?

The main reason for my post is, I'm wondering what you used as the floor for your garage coop... thanks!
