Will my ducks start laying this fall?

Our ducks weren't fond of the egg shells... so oyster shells will be purchased next time we go to the feed store. we have a sand "pit" from when our kids were little and had a sand box. It's overgrown now, since it's been abandoned for about 6 years. Our ducks frequent it and root around.

Our feeder bowl is actually a resin reservoir planter pan. It's about 12 inches in diameter, about 1.5 inches tall and for some reason they do not tip it over like everything else. We also have considered a ceramic or clay pot reservoir pan, but for now, the resin one is the winner.

I don't use layer but use all flock feed and give oyster shell at free choice. If I where you I would go ahead and start giving(just set out for free choice) the oyster shell so they can nibble on it if they need it!
