I recently moved to the city and my two young hens couldn't tag along for obvious reasons. So they are staying with a friend in a country like environment. I've been in a situation where I haven't been able to move back to the country and take my birds back. Its now been 8 months and i miss them horribly, but this spring i am moving. On of my hens that is staying with my friend broke her leg about a few months ago, and my friend didn't know what caused it. Shes recovered now with a slight limp, i do feel horrible tho. Could a large rooster cause a broken leg? Or maybe jumping from a high distance? And is it possible for her to brake it again and damage it permanently and not be able to walk? And some of the roosters pulled the feathers off both hens backs, will their backs recover fast? After they are removed from the roosters?

Also when i receive my hens back, will they gain memory of me?

Thanks so much, any info is appreciated.

Could a large rooster cause a broken leg? I suppose it's possible, but it would be a new one on me.
Or maybe jumping from a high distance? again. it's possible. It's hard to tell
And is it possible for her to brake it again and damage it permanently and not be able to walk? Well that's another tough one. I suppose it's possible, but it's also possible that she'll never break it again

And some of the roosters pulled the feathers off both hens backs, will their backs recover fast? That depends if the feathers are broken or if they were pulled out. Pulled out they'll grow back fast...otherwise, it will have to wait until the next moult.

First I would check them for feather mites....that weakens the feathers and makes the problem worse.....
Then if you can't separate from the roos...then get or make some chicken saddles...just search for it on BYC....

GOOD LUCK
Sandra
